HAACON SHELTER/CONTAINER HANDLING EQUIPMENT FROM IMS

IMS is now responsible for all UK sales and servicing of the Haacon LRJ 1350 series of lifting rolling and jacking systems for the handling of standard defence shelters and transport containers.

The Haacon LRJ 1350 range is designed not only to provide the handling ability needed to lift the shelters or containers onto and off trucks, but also to provide them with mobility on the ground, and to load and offload them to aircraft such as the Hercules C130 and C141.

The Haacon LRJ 1350 lifting, rolling and jacking system is a transportable system consisting of four extendible legs, one for each corner of the shelter/container, and each driven by a rack and pinion drive. To provide the required mobility, each leg is equipped with twin wheels and pneumatic tyres.

Some 200 LRJ 1350 systems are currently in use worldwide. The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) first chose the Haacon system in 1988 following rigorous assessment and service trials. Following further MoD purchases, a total of over 60 systems are in service with the RAF and the Royal Engineers, or on special projects. Nearly 60 further systems are in service with the US air force, and numerous systems are also being used by major commercial fleet operators.
