Investing in young talent   Shepshed-based IMS has donated funds to St Winefride’s Catholic Primary School in Shepshed, as part of the school’s reward system for excellent effort and behaviour. The school is working towards the National Healthy School Standard and working within the ‘Every Child Matters’ agenda; the aim is to promote emotional health and wellbeing and engage more readily within the wider community.   “St Winefride’s was keen not to simply reward students for being well-behaved, which is expected at all times, but to develop their understanding of how each personal achievement is important when working towards a common goal.  We thought this an excellent initiative,” said Andrew Dyer, managing director at IMS.   IMS initially donated £1000 and the school was able to reward the winning group of children with a trip to a local theme park.  The following year a further £300 was added to the fund, and this year, has paid for a visit from a performing arts group.   Andrew D yer added: “We’re very happy to support the school in their efforts to make their school a centre of excellent behaviour and attainment.   “The children here are potentially our future engineers, scientists, mechanics, and IT specialists.  By investing in their future, we can help to keep these trades alive into the future.” The school’s deputy head Aidan Curran said: “We’re extremely grateful to IMS for supporting our school – it’s good to know that community support is still alive.   “At St Winefride’s we believe this initiative has already influenced the behaviour and attitudes of the children, which in turn has influenced their academic success.   “As the legacy of reward has been established; so too has the development of the children’s confidence and their level of active citizenship, thus resulting in a happier, healthier school.” IMS is a distributor of specialist automotive equipment for the commercial vehicle industry, based in Shepshed. - Ends -
